- We are proud to announce the 2007 American Cheese Society Conference in Burlington, Vermont, awarded our Oakvale Farmstead Aged Gouda third place in the Farmstead Cheese competition. This year they had over 1200 entries competing in various cheese categories compared to 900 entries last year. The Society judges the cheese on an aesthetic evaluation, which entails the quality of the flavor, aroma and texture.
- In addition, we are proud to announce the 2007 Ohio State Fair was an exciting event for Oakvale Farm. We showed five Holsteins, and placed second in two large heifer classes with “Mary Jane” in the Fall Yearling class and “Patty” in the Winter Heifer class. “Patty was also named Best Bred and Owned in class. “Dolce Vita” and “Cha Cha” placed fourth and fifth in the Winter Yearling class, and our heifers won second place in the Jr. Best Three Females competition.
- As far as the Brown Swiss Competion, “Priss” was awarded first Fall Yearling Heifer, and was named named Junior Champion.
- This year for the first time, the Holstein Association recognized the Ohio State Fair as a national competition with their strict adherence to the rules and regulations of the Pure Bred Dairy Cattle Association.
- We were very pleased at the end of the day to receive the honor and award of “Premier Breeder” of the 2007 Ohio State Fair and The Mid-West Summer National Holstein Show.
- We are very excited to announce our cheese will be in the 2007 Fall/Holiday Williams-Sonoma Catalog. You can find our gouda, along with other family farm cheeses as part of the ‘Pastoral American Family Farm Collection’.
